The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle The whole world in one garden

The botanic gardens offer a mild climate and southern flora. In the sunny hills just above Meran, where the empress Sisi once sauntered through the blooming gardens of Castle Trauttmansdorff. The gardens cover an area of 12 hectares where you find these outstanding attractions: the sun gardens, the water and terraced gardens, forests of the world, and beautiful landscapes of South Tyrol.

Open from:

  • March 25th – October 15th: daily from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. (last entrance: 6.00 p.m.)
  • October 16th – October 31th: daily from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (last entrance: 5.00 p.m.)
  • November 1th – November 15th: daily from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (last entrance: 4.00 p.m.)
  • On Fridays in June, July, and August: 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m.(last entrance: 10.00 p.m.)

An extraordinary botanical garden located in Merano!

In addition, there are 11 pavilions and, you will find the castle literally in the center of the botanic gardens. Count Trauttmansdorff had ordered to rebuild it out of the ruins left from the Middle Ages. Empress Sisi inhabited it twice during her winter cure. It has since been redesigned as a museum which tells about 200 years of a moving history in Tyrolean tourism.
